USCA MoPac Mini-Conference and Skills Clinic - Details!

Here is a letter from Jerome Larson:

Members Services of USA Curling and Mountain Pacific Curling Association are pleased to announce a “Mini-Conference” and Skills Clinic for the membership of MOPAC.

Date: October 10 and 11, 2009
Place: Wine Country Curling, Vacaville Ice Sports, Vacaville, CA.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the curling clubs in the Western United States to get together and learn from the talented pool of experts in Club Management and Growth.

We will also be hosting Rick Patzke, Chief Operating Officer of USA Curling who will discuss USA Curling and the upcoming Vancouver, Olympics. Other participants include Chris Sjue from Fargo, ND and Vice President of Member Services; Bev Schroeder, Stevens Point, WI Director of Members Services; John Mielke from Bismarck, ND; Sandra McMakin, Pittsburgh, PA; and Jerome Larson, Rio Vista, CA.

Information on Coaching, Curling Stones, Ice Preparation, Club Operations, Membership growth and retention, and revenue development are some of the areas to be covered.

A Skills Clinic will be held Saturday Night where individual will be expertly instructed with video analysis immediately after delivery. Having the likes of John, Sandra, and Bev help with your delivery will most likely be the highlight of the conference. On Sunday Morning, on ice, situational curling will be held. This will transfer your skills to situations on both an individual and team basis.

A draft of the tentative schedule is attached that will include a short MOPAC meeting. This is a real opportunity to meet curlers from the other clubs within the region. Costs will be minimal at $20 to help defray Wine Country’s Ice costs.

We highly encourage all that can attend to do so. Spread the word to all of your members.

Lodging will be at Hampton Suites that is located next to Vacaville Ice Sports.

Please make your attendance and interest known to Jerome Larson, jlcurler@frontiernet.net. Phone 707-374-3920 as soon as possible.
