Bonspiel Recommendations from SFBACC Members

One of the best parts of the curling is the travel. Curlers pride themselves on their hospitality - it's tradition to treat visitors like family. Spieling a great chance to meet new people, see other parts of the world and try different ice!

The SFBACC wants to get more members out to meet the wider curling community. To encourage this, we're putting together a list of members' favorite spiels and we're working of a format to help folks network to build teams. For now, Facebook or the Yahoo group are probably the best online ways to look for teammates. If you can't find a team, try contacting the host club to see if they have teams looking for players. And remember - you don't need to be a skip to organize a team!

General Recommendations

Anything in Seattle - The Granite Curling Club is the closest club with dedicated ice - and it's quite a place! It's got a thriving curling community and is the winningest club in the country. The club has a strong, long-time relationship with the SFBACC and is our curling home-away-from-home. Its spiels are raucous and popular - especially the 24-hour April spiel - so sign up early.

The Crush - Hosted by our sister club, WineCountry Curling, in Vacaville, CA, Labor Day weekend annually. This spiel is fun and local!

USWCA All-American for women
March 13-14, 2010 Seattle. This might be the best development spiel for women around. Contact Loreen or TC (the club's USWCA rep) to sign up. (more info on our calendar and in the competitive curling section on our web site.)

USWCA 5 & Under some are women-only, some are open to all
Various locations and times - see our USWCA rep, TC for more information.
