Upcoming Events

Established in 1958, the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club is the oldest arena curling club in the United States. SFBACC is a nationally-recognized leader in curling development, providing learning opportunities, youth scholarships, competitive development, recreational leagues, corporate and private events, and more. We have already taught thousands of Bay Area residents to curl in 2014. Now, we are raising funds to build a dedicated curling center right here in the Bay Area so that we can take these programs to the next level. Will you join us?

SFBACC Receives Grant from Darwin Curtis Fund

We are thrilled to announce that the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club has been awarded a grant from the Darwin Curtis Fund for our outreach and development efforts. SFBACC's continued innovation and commitment to growing the sport was recognized as particularly aligned with the fund's intent to "support and encourage participation by the general public in the sport of curling." The fund is administered by the USCA on behalf of The Chicago Community Trust. Of the dozens that applied, only 6 clubs across the country received a portion of the $20,000 distributed in this inaugural year.

We will be holding an open forum for South Bay curlers on Tuesday, November 13th, at 8pm in Stanley's at Sharks Ice San Jose. The board is beginning to plan our leagues, lessons and special events for 2013, and we want your input! Please think about when & where you want to curl, and come with your opinions on everything from league format to social mixers. And there's a bit of room on the ice for a few extra curlers for those interested! We look forward to seeing you there!

Lawn Bowling Social a Success

Thanks to Kim Chapin, Emily Kimmel and the bowling star himself, Roland Gong, for organizing this great social event! About 40 curlers and guests came out to bowl for the afternoon. More photos coming soon on the club Picasa site.

Lawn Bowling Social Event

It's like curling...without the ice! Leave your slider and broom at home for the afternoon of July 22nd because the SFBACC will be swapping out stones and ice for bowls and grass. The fine folks at the Berkeley Lawn Bowling Club are opening their facilities to curlers (family and friends included) for a day of lawn bowling and socializing. We'll bowl on the green from 11AM to 2PM and then retire to the club house for food, drinks, and socializing.
