On Wednesday 7/29, an open board meeting was held after the competitive curling meeting. Some key financial decisions regarding the club's future were discussed and are still being debated. We encourage everyone to attend to provide input! Here are notes from the 7/29 meeting:

On Wed, July 29, a meeting was held for folks interested in getting involved in competitive curling. Lyle Sieg conducted the meeting and more than 15 people attended. After lengthy debate, several key decisions were made that will have a major impact on the upcoming year. Here is a quick summary:

Founder, Competitor, First Club President
Douglas McNabb was born into a curling family in 1920 in the St. James district of Winnipeg, Manitoba. McNabbâ€™s father was a founder of the Deer Lodge Curling Club â€“ located only a few blocks from the familyâ€™s home. Young Doug also loved curling and, in 1940, followed in his fatherâ€™s footsteps, skipping his high school team to victory in the Manitoba High School Championship.
This section is a work in progress. We're still trying to reconstruct California's competitive curling history - just because there is no listing for a particular year, does not mean there were no teams, etc.
March 13, 1958 - The San Francisco Curling Club is formed and begins curling at the Bel-Arena Ice rink in Belmont, CA.
The next board meeting will be held after the competitive curling meeting on Wednesday, July 29th at Sharks Ice at Fremont. The competitive curling meeting will start at 7:30 pm and so, theoretically, the board meeting will start at about 8:30 pm.
All board meetings are open to the club unless otherwise noted, so everyone is encouraged to attend.

In the upcoming weeks, there will be some preliminary organizational and brainstorming meetings for the 2010 bonspiel and season, so stay tuned for more details on that.
