There's one more week of early curling times in Fremont before the summer season ends. If you haven't been out to curl in a while, come out for the night and sub or practice - or just hang out with the gang! It's a great chance to get tuned up before next season or to just have a fun night out with the best sport ever!
Congrats to all our members who curled in "The Crush" bonspiel in Vacaville over Labor Day weekend - and congrats to our top finishers:

Members Services of USA Curling and Mountain Pacific Curling Association are pleased to announce a “Mini-Conference†and Skills Clinic for the membership of MOPAC.
Date: October 10 and 11, 2009
Place: Wine Country Curling, Vacaville Ice Sports, Vacaville, CA.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the curling clubs in the Western United States to get together and learn from the talented pool of experts in Club Management and Growth.
The SFBACC will be holding a 2 hour class that covers the basics of curling on Tuesday, Sept 22 from 9 - 11:30 pm at Sharks Ice at San Jose. This is perfect for folks who are totally new to curling as well as those who are interested in a quick refresher. The class will cover the basics of the curling "delivery" (stone sliding) and sweeping - and participants will get to play a coached mini-game as time and space permit. After this class, you will be well prepared to play in a league. Cost: $10 for individuals, $30 for groups up to 4 people.
The first-ever curling event was held in Oakland yesterday. It was a corporate event with about 20 participants and 9 volunteers. (Thank you, volunteers!)
Details are still being worked out around league times in Oakland - but Wednesdays at 7:15 pm is one possible time. The cost will depend on the number of people in the league. Contact email@example.com for more information.
This Thursday, August 27 at 6:30 pm (before Fremont league) we will be holding the first official planning session for the Golden Gate Bonspiel, May 2010. We need your help and input with decisions like banquet vs. wine tour, etc. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Note date change to Sat, Oct 10 and Sun, Oct 11
Here's the letter from SFBACC President, Brent Halpenny:
Hello Bay Area Curlers,
MoPac will be hosting a USCA mini-conference and skills camp in Vacaville on October 10th & 11th. Many head office staff will be here. The USCA says we need a minimum of 20 people to make this successful. I'm thinking that our club can do that by itself, let's show the USCA why MoPac is the fastest growing region in the country.
The following activities are being planned.
We're going to be holding the 2nd Golden Gate Bonspiel on Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-30, 2010. Here's a note from bonspiel organizer, Lyle Sieg:
Hello fellow SFBACC members. The time has come to get to work on the 2010 Spring Golden Gate Bonspiel.
