The Golden Gate Bonspiel is fast approaching!
The Golden Gate Bonspiel Committee is getting excited as our 2014 bonspiel approaches.
As of right now, we have a full slate of out-of-town teams and need only 1 more local team to round out our 32-team bracket! We especially want to encourage our newest curlers to participate in their first bonspiel, so please invite them to sign up (as teams or individuals) when you see them!
As always, putting on a great 3-day bonspiel is an expensive undertaking, and we count on a few fundraising efforts at the bonspiel to reach our financial goals. To that end, we need your help to put together some great gift baskets for raffle as well as silent auction items and gift cards ($5 and up) for other games & activities.
Now is a great time to think about what you can contribute! Our silent auction prizes usually include items such as a cabin at Tahoe for the weekend, signed athletic or other memorabilia, skydiving (pretend or for real), dinner for two at a great restaurant, etc. These are the higher-end items.
Raffle baskets can contain all sorts of things from wine and sports tickets to small games, hats, food, classes, accessories, etc. The more elaborate and eclectic the baskets, the more people will buy raffle tickets to bid on them.
Lastly, as we are actively fundraising to build a dedicated curling facility this year, we are putting all proceeds from this year's bonspiel toward the club's Dedicated Ice Fund. We'll be announcing some additional fundraising activities shortly, and welcome any ideas you might have!
If you have items to donate, or think you can source some items for fundraising from your place of work or an organization you work with, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible! We'll be happy to help coordinate a handoff at your convenience.
Volunteers are needed all weekend starting with Thursday night setup on May 22. For those of you not playing in the spiel (and even those who are), come help for 2 hours, 4 hours, or more and watch some great curling. Join us for the festivities after each game. We need ice prep people, equipment set up, registration table, BBQ help, scoring, and many other activities. Please help us so that everyone can enjoy their time volunteering, and we can have an amazing bonspiel!
Games start of Friday, May 23 at 8:45 AM and conclude with the finals at 2:30 PM Sunday. See the full schedule here. Lastly, if you'd like to get more directly involved, the Bonspiel Committee meets via phone monthly. Dial-in is posted in the calendar. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
We hope to see you all out there,
