2019-2020 Season Committees

As we move into dedicated ice, more volunteers are needed than we've ever engaged in the past! Please take a look at the committees below and reach out to committees@bayareacurling.com to let us know where you may be able to lend a hand. Thank you!


Facility Management - Manage maintenance of the building and surrounding property including cleaning, security, parking, landscaping; maintain inventory of necessities such as office supplies and toiletries. Manage vendor relationship for utilities and facilitate access as necessary.

Ice Crew - Schedule ice prep and maintenance, facilitate training of ice crew and assistants; maintain ice to high standard of quality; document ice-making process and procedures; maintain ice-making equipment and rocks; manage vendor relationships for ice equipment.

Equipment Management - Maintain in proper working condition all club-owned curling equipment including brooms, sliders, grippers, stabilizers, scoreboards, measurement tools, etc. Jointly work with Ice Crew on rack/handle maintenance. Procure new and replacement equipment as needed.

Fundraising & Sales - Oversee fundraising for capital projects, club programs, and loan repayment; manage donor relationships; manage advertising/sponsor partnerships and other non-curling revenue opportunities.

Operations & General Management - Oversee master ice schedule, operational hours, general staffing, policies and procedures, and pricing. Assist in preparing annual operational budget for board approval. Oversee drawmasters, event coordinators (Corp & LTC), practice ice supervisors, food/bev, and pro shop.

IT - Maintain computer systems, WiFi, POS, security systems, cameras, A/V, office equipment, smart devices, and broadcast equipment.

Junior/Youth Programs - Create/manage partnerships with youth organizations/schools; manage instruction, drop-in, and leagues; organize teams; facilitate participation in bonspiels and competitive events.

Equity & Inclusion - Create/manage partnerships with organizations that can help us bring the sport to a broader community with focus on ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, and ability (wheelchair/adaptive sports, the deaf community, etc); facilitate participation in leagues, bonspiels and competitive events among these populations and partnerships; identify opportunities to create equity through scholarships, discounts, and fee waivers.

Marketing - Create marketing materials such as flyers, club merchandise, business cards, ad creative, etc; maintain the club websites; maintain mailing lists; manage internal and external marketing outreach; source external events where the club can table/participate/partner.

Competition & Development - Provide opportunities for skill development (lessons, clinics) utilizing internal and external resources. Organize internal playdowns; facilitate opportunities to host competitive events; promote competitive curling within the club, identify and communicate competitive opportunities and assisting in the formation of teams. Facilitate instructor training.

Membership - Maintain accurate member lists; manage reporting to NGB and member associations; track volunteers, facilitate ongoing volunteer recognition and member communication.

Bonspiel - Organize the annual Golden Gate Bonspiel, TurkeySpiel, and any new bonspiels we'd like to hold including scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and running the events.

Social - Organize off-ice member events like watch parties, league wrap-ups, holiday parties.
