This 4th edition of the Challenge Château Cartier de Gatineau tournament is self-described as one of international caliber and is now considered the biggest one in Eastern Canada. 12 Women's teams vie for CDN$11,500 in prize money. Another stop on the 2012 European 'Curling Champions Tour'...this tournament features 24 men's teams. The purse for this event is CDN$40,000. Minus out the few that are traveling to the Cactus Pheasant Classic this weekend....all of the top European Men's teams can be found pounding the ice in this, the Chablais, region of southwest Switzerland.

The Baden Masters is an annual curling tournament, held in early September in Baden, Switzerland. It is the first curling tournament of the World Curling Tour season and is also part of the Curling Champions Tour. It was first held in 2000 and it became a WCT event in 2005. The Shorty Jenkins Classic is an annual curling tournament, held in September in Brockville. It is one of the first curling tournaments of the World Curling Tour season. There is one Canadian squad, Team Grattan out of New Bruswick. Their 4-7 record in the 2011 Brier doesn't convey the upsets of and the close games with some of the heavy hitting teams of the other provinces.

With 5 of the top 6 men's teams on the current 'order of merit' and $70,000CDN on the line....things will certainly heat up in the flatlands of pre-winter Alberta. The 2011 International ZO Women's Tournament will be held at the Curling Center Wetzikon in Wetzikon, Switzerland as part of the 2011–12 World Curling Tour. The purse for the event will be CHF16,000, and the winner will receive CHF6,000. 7 of the top 8 European women's teams will appear...inclduing: Norberg (SWE), Privivkova (RUS), Ott (SUI), Sigfridsson (SWE), Jäggi (SUI). The tournament was started in 1922 as the Worlds Curling Championship, an open competition between Scottish curlers held at the Haymarket Ice Rink. The tournament was renamed the Edinburgh International Curling Championship in 1975.

Description:
Seven of THE top Canadian teams in each gender compete in a round robin; 3-team playoff format. The winners will become the first teams to qualify directly for the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which will determine Canada’s representatives for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The total prize money is CAD$70,000 each for the men's and women's events, and the winning teams each receive CAD$26,000. In addition to berths into the 2013 Trials, the winners will also receive invitations to the 2013 Continental Cup of Curling at Penticton, British Columbia.

Description:
Four teams are invited to participate. The teams each play a semifinal match against another team, and the semifinal winners move on to the final. In this format, teams play for ends, not scoring within an end. Prize money is be assigned to each end. To win an end, the team that has "the hammer" — the one which throws the last stone in the end, an inherent advantage — must score at least two points (under normal scoring rules) to win the end. The other team may win the end by stealing one point. If the team with the hammer gets only one point or the end is blanked, then the game points or prize money associated with that end carry over to the next. $75,000 CAD in prize money is available to the teams.

Description:
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is the annual Canadian women's curling championship, sanctioned by the Canadian Curling Association. The winner goes on to represent Canada at the women's world curling championships. Since 1985, the winner also gets to return to the following year's tournament as "Team Canada".
